The 2008 Pulitzer Prize winners in Journalism: "The 2008 Pulitzer Prize winners in Journalism, Letters, Drama and Music:

JOURNALISM:

Public Service: The Washington Post for the work of Dana Priest, Anne Hull and photographer Michel du Cille for exposing mistreatment of wounded veterans, which led to national outcry and federal reforms. Finalists were The Charlotte Observer and Newsday, Long Island, N.Y.

Breaking news reporting: The Washington Post staff for their coverage of the mass shootings at Virginia Tech. Finalists were The Idaho Statesman staff and The New York Times staff.

Investigative reporting: Walt Bogdanich and Jake Hooker of The New York Times for their stories on toxic ingredients in medicine and other products imported from China, and the Chicago Tribune staff for its exposure of faulty governmental regulation of toys, car seats and cribs. Finalists were Miles Moffeit and Susan Greene of The Denver Post."
